"Officials were shocked to learn that the bars were fake. They contained cores of tungsten with only a outer coating of real gold. What’s more, these gold bars, containing serial numbers for tracking, originated in the US and had been stored in Fort Knox for years. "

This is my second time around with this subject today. :D

According to the article the Chinese received around 5,600 fake bars and then they came to the conclusion that there were between 1,300,000 and 1,500,000 more fake bars in Fort Knox. This is an extraordinary claim and needs to be backed up with extraordinary evidence. The Chinese conducted the investigation on their own and have not provided any evidence only allegations which if believed would further erode global confidence in the U.S.

So, were the bars at one time 99.99% Pure Gold? IF so, a very large group of people need to be packing for the Poky. :dontknow:
