Is a silver proof worth at least it's face value? Obviously the price of silver determines it's true value but would say a $100 silver proof bar never equal less than $100?
"Our concern is not being the biggest, it is being the one you turn to and trust"
Do you mean an item like the one I've posted? If yes, then no it is not always worth $100. It is only worth the value of the silver contained which is 4 ounces in this case or roughly $60-$65 currently. These items are not made by the U.S. Government therefore they are not currency.
If you are talking about a different item, then please explain.
been to a couple of jewelery/store pawn shops that sell proofs [ gold \silver eagles] at almost what they sell regular eagles at. Needless to say they dont often have them or keep them long. Was just at a one of them and they were selling a regular eagle at spot.
The point is unless your buying proofs because you like how they look , if things get worse they wont fetch such a premium.
True but as disaster money goes, the Silver Eagle or Maple Leaf coins are the easiest to use and more difficult to counterfit than a bar.
So basically put, when the $Hi% hits the fan and you need to buy something. Just about anyone will accept a silver eagle, a morgan dollar, silver junk coin etc over a bar of who knows what's in it.
