    I buy gold, silver, platinum, coins and diamonds

    I will test it (acid), weigh it (coins and diamonds valued differently) and then purchase from you, cash, on the spot (Hawaii only). At very least I can tell you worth. I am able to purchase for higher price that store fronts because I have no overhead!

    Let's chat!

    Everyone here knows not to sell to the store fronts, actually some of us compete with the store fronts.

    do you pay 98% on gold and 90% on silver?
    Most here also know where to go to get these payouts. (ARA or jewelerdave)

    You are welcome here to come and chat and share ideas on how to make more money buying and selling.

    Hey cyberdan!

    Thanks for the message. I'm not sure what you mean about 98% and 90%. We pay out based on the dwt (penny weight) and karat. For example as of right now, we are paying anywhere from $11 (10k) to as much as $26 (22k). Silver as you probably know is not worth much in buying back. More often than not I recommend people to keep it as currently .25 cents per dwt. Hope that helps!

    Have a great day,
    Randy

    It means if fine gold value is $1000 the refinery pays you $980 and same with silver $1000 = $900

    I do not usually think in dwt (I do grams) but if my math is correct you are offering $11 for $25.63 worth of gold. I pay more than that at yardsales.

    Re: I buy gold, silver, platinum, coins and diamonds

    I can buy large lots of gold, like 100 or 500 troy ounces contained, for 99% of melt.

    Smaller lots less money.

    A buddy does this all the time and since we have known each other for 20 years, he told me he would like the business.

    I prefer to buy sterling flatware and holloware and pay about 85 to 95 per cent of melt, sometimes more if complete flatware sets or makers like Tiffany or Stieff...

    So for 100 D.W.T. of 22k I would receive $2,600.00? Is that correct?

    Diggin, yes I think you are right randy808 would send you $2600

    BUT & it's a big but

    Let me convert that: 20 dwt = 1 troy oz = 31.104 grams

    so you have 5 oz t or 155.5 gr

    gold is $1231 oz t right now & that = $5642 in fine gold

    ARA and probably jewelerdave will send a check for around $5500

    I don't think I'd be bragging about paying "anywhere from $11 (10k) to as much as $26 (22k)". Based on today's gold prices that's 42% of melt for 10K, & 45% of melt for 22K. There are any number of stores in my area that will meet or exceed those prices.

    My local pawn broker can beat that.
    Also, your original post said that you could at least tell your customers the worth of their gold. Using cyberdans example, say I bring in $1000.00 in gold. You are going to tell me it's worth a grand but offer me $420.00?
    Not a good business model in my book.

    Is that Canadian $$?
    Because gold is only worth $1.64 per gram/per karat (U.S.$)

    $22.96 for 14K
    $29.52 for 18K

    If he is paying that in U.S. I think it is time for me to grab my stash and head north.

    I'd consider a road trip at those prices myself.....if that was in the states I'd have to think those prices were for dwt.

    Yes that's Canadian I was surprised as well, no that's not dwt. it's gram.
    I'm not clear on why they pay so much, today the price of gold in Canadian dollars is:
    17.85 10K 24.95 14K 32.10 18K per gram.

    right now U.S. gold is $1247.90 so in CDN that is $1327.51

    so per gram CDN
    10K = 17.78
    14K = 24.89
    18K = 32.00

    They are VERY generious and will be going out of business soon.

    They are paying better than any refinery or it is 12K and they call it 10 or it weighs 20gr and they call it 15.

    Re: I buy gold, silver, platinum, coins and diamonds

    I need a store that pays like that in my neighborhood. There's still a good bit of gold priced too close to melt for me to buy in the antique malls in my area....if I could sell for more than melt lots of it would become worth buying.

    Yep, he registered Aug 24 and made 4 posts and Aug 24 was his last time here.

    I have always thought in grams, but I taught myself.

    dwt or pennyweight is real old fashioned, but there are times I have to use it because some local CASH4GOLD place used it. I want to make sure they weighed something correctly (there are 20 dwt per troy ounce)

    But then in my day job I still think cwt (hundredweight) I buy paper for printing presses buy the hundred pounds. The modern way is to buy by the M(thousand sheets)

    Re: I buy gold, silver, platinum, coins and diamonds

    I like to use dwt BECAUSE there are 20 to an ounce. It's a lot easier to do the math without a calculator when you aren't trying to divide by 31 all the time......... That does make it a pain to shift gears & think in grams when I'm shipping to a refiner but it's easier for me in the long run. I spend a lot more time buying than I do selling.

    Since I taught myself, when I did the research, I guess grams popped up first with google. Or when I bought my scale it was called a gram scale. Now it is hard to retrain this old brain.
