First of all, a special thanks to "Cyberdan" for his encouragement and his posts on this forum that have helped so much.
After "banging them" with a 2lb hammer 20 or 30 seconds as I roll them, the epoxy is pulverized and comes out like sand.
The next picture shows the stainless knife blades with their tangs; the first tang came out in two parts as I thought I must have been an old Blacksmith in a past life....
The price sticker is still on, and was my first buy of sterling about a year and a half ago. One price for all 13 pieces of Sterling that luckily had only 3 knives and it was only $8.00.
A standard teaspoon (there were 3) weighs 32.6 grams or $26.76 each
A salad fork (3) weighs 38.1 or $ 31.28
A dinner fork (4) weighs 50.3 or $41.33
The third pictures shows the 3 Sterling knife handles' weight at today's price is worth $86.86.
When I first got offers from silverware companies, the best one was about $160.
Today, just the silver content of the 13 pieces is worth $426.30
Since I was scrapping out metal today, like the aluminum dish scrap I posted on the Scrap Metal Forum, I thought I'd finish getting the Sterling knife handles off their steel blades, and the epoxy weighted material out the set of weighted Sterling candle stick holder skinned-out....

Just the handles are Onedia Sterling, the blade is stainless and must be removed before sending to a refiner

Below, since this filler is hard and not sticky like my first set of candle holders,
the same 2lb hammer cracks the solid epoxy.
In the bottom center right, in the "Wallace" brand of Sterling Silver, there is a slender piece of steel (it clicked to a magnet) to reinforce the stem.
Last time the same reinforcing piece was brass.
It took all of 2 minutes to get the thin shaped silver to release from the filler of one candlestick holder. Pretty Quick & Easy

I paid $15.00 for the set of candlestick holders, in the bundle buy with the "silver state spoons" last week.
The much thinner skins of silver are worth $54.44, today.

The silver skins weigh a total 218.3 grams are worth about $180.00.
Silver is still going up and that does scare me....
