    Better yield than PMs?

Just read that the Greek 1 year bond yield is 403%!! That is even better than gold and silver for a 1 year term.

I think I will stick with PMs for now. Probably will be a dip in silver prices though, in that I picked up some cheap silver. Picked up what many feel is the lowest of the low in silver bullion-- .999 holiday type 1 ounce bars/rounds (Merry Christmas, Happy Anniversary, etc). I picked through the stash and got for the most part ones that had well known private mint hallmarks-- National, Madison Mint, etc,-- all passed the "ping" test and some had some slight tarnish. Also found some nice, Apmex one ounce bars mixed in there still in the plastic. I guess somebody thought they were holiday bars because of their design. Not bad for less than 25 cents over spot. Funny thing is, those holiday type bars are more expensive than silver eagles when you buy them brand new, but in the secondary market they are cheaper than anything else generally speaking.

    Re: Better yield than PMs?

Jim, nice score. I too have been picking up a little bit of silver here and there now that the price has stabilized. Since we are both buying silver again the price is guaranteed to tank very soon.

I personally like some of the interesting holiday/theme bars and rounds. The kids love the pictures of Santa parachuting out of the sky or dancing with Rudolph. But I agree that most people consider them the lowest of the low despite the fact that they were likely fairly expensive to buy originally. As long as it's silver though I really don't care. Recently I've been buying some older Mexican and Canadian silver coinage. The purity is lower but they are fun to look at. I like to have a little of everything. I even ordered a gold sovereign for my daughter's birthday since she is an anglophile.

mts, sorry to hear about your daughter. It's a shame when kids get that.
