I hope this is the correct location for this thread. I'm looking to buy a gold chain off ebay and I need some opinions fast. I know its difficult to determine the authenticity of a piece by a picture but could I get some opinions? Does it look good to y'all? I mean correct weight for its size and correct quality for a solid gold chain? Thanks !

Well if tye weight is 17.20 grams and 14K then the melt value is $420.66

It looks okay to me. It's a Cuban link. If it's not real, you are covered by ebay's buyer protection so I wouldn't worry too much. Even if the seller doesn't take returns, you are still covered.

I'd be more wary if it said China on it myself. There are some fake Italy marked ones out there, but the real ones outweigh the fake ones. I've only come across one fake Italy marked piece so far. I can't say the same for China marked pieces, same goes for the sterling silver.

Can't tell by the pictures. What is the KT? 10K, 14K, 24K? go to Scrap Gold Weight Conversion and Melt Value Calculator and type in the weight and Kt. at least this will give you the melt value. Charlie

P.S. Also a better picture of the mark on the clasp would help

Don't know what kind of computer you have Charlie , on mine if you hold down the control button and scroll with the wheel on the mouse, you can zoom in or out on whatever is on the screen.
