A friend of mine told me they used to make and test fire cannons for the Civil War at Hope Furnace in RI..I would like to find a cannon ball..

Here's what I found on it...
Scituate has played an important role in many of the United States wars. During the Revolutionary War, 76 cannons were forged at the Hope Furnace. During World War II, Scituate was the site of a radio monitoring system that intercepted enemy signals. Because of this, in 1946, the Chopmist Hill area was considered as the headquarters of the United Nations

Directly across from my house is an underground bomb shelter ..
It is now call Iron Mountain..
Scituate has alot of history thats for sure....

I'm always up for a historical relic hunt.
Hope furnace is located at the yum yum ice cream shop by hope dam or that general vicinity if I remember correctly, most of the surrounding area was lumbered to feed the furnace, and there was an old iron mine with low grade iron ore in the area.
