That's a great tipTGL, I've been doing it for years up here in the far north and you are right it can turn a crappy night in to a good night sleep. In the winter when below zero I use two!

Thanks! I have the hubby to thank for that one! I have a 10 F. down filled REI bag and I still sleep cold in 40 F. weather (guess I'm a human popsicle sometimes) especially if it's damp, you just "feel" cold even if you're not. The other bonus is that if it's super cold outside, you have water that isn't cold to drink in the morning when you wake up!

SHERRY's THREAD - My Gold Prospecting Journey

Well I kept forgetting to charge my phone so not many pics... Go figure! 😵
We went to Bear River on Thursday. I did a little digging and ran the Sniper and got some color but haven't ran those cons yet, TBD. The gold there is thin, light and foil like, very easy to blow out. I took a break and creviced 3 cracks and got this little bit.

Here is our group for the day.

On Friday, GoldenMojo blessed us with his presences and knowledge of the North Fork, American River. He took us out to a geat spot near Yankee Jim's and gave us lessons on the gold in that area, where it typically resides, and the best ways to pan and sluice that type of gold. Here are the guys trekking ahead of me.

Here is what I got at the end of the day (I was busy talking everyone's ears off) but I haven't processed my cons from that day either. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1417471080.403937.jpg
The forecast called for a lot of rain the next 2 days so we cut our trip short vowing to come back by Spring or earlier! 👍

Special Thanks to you GoldenMojo! You are an amazing person, one that is very rare. I appreciate your hospitality and value the friendship that you have bestowed upon myself and my group of friends. I look forward to seeing you again. 😃

Eesh, be careful lol.
I'd stay in diving distance to the entrance. We go up to a spot in the mountains every now and then here in Colorado where the tunnel goes in about 75 feet then straight down. its flooded because it's right next to the dang river. And deep. Creepy deep. We've hooked a flashlight to a small rock so it sunk slow and watched it go down down down.... down.
Makes me wonder how they kept all that water out for it to be safe enough to mine. or maybe that's what ended up closing it.

Yea I have no plans on being a dare devil, that was in my younger days! 😜 Wish I'd known prospecting back then, I'd probably be retired! 😝
