Oh yea! Back at it again on Saturday!

Met up with the Golden Mojo and where at the spot at 9am. What a beautiful day!!!

We found a nice bedrock outcrop that had it all. Some nice flat shelf like sections on the bank for a nice comfy work area, a sand bar and a bunch of troughs and cracks.

The water was high and ripping but we still found good gold. The was a nice little spot where I set up the Bazooka right next to a sand/cobble bar. This easy to dig material was showing 3 smalls per shovel full so I figured since It was 2ft from the sluice I figured what the heck...

Worked great for 2 hrs and then the water dropped a bit and I was getting some surge wave action. Messed with the flow and slowed me down a bit but I made it work.

I was using Joe's sniper and moving a tun of material. I would take a shovel full and toss it onto the slick plate (missed a few times lol) then immediately take another scoop and step over to the box. I was able to set the shovel down on the bedrock and help the first shovel clear and then dumped and cleared the second shovel and repeat.

With so much material going through I cleaned out 3 times in about 2 and half hours. Then I decided I would need to dig out the sluice spot to accommodate the dropping water level and I was really wanting the sand which I left in the truck so I decided to go back and grab the Sammy and by prospector. I was tired of cleaning out so much and since I was digging it out I figured what the heck. As I got to the bridge and truck there were some knuckleheads going down the raging river on boogie boards....one was screaming and hollering for someone right next to a gnarly set of Rapids and I was distracted.....forgot the Sammy at the truck. Doh!!!

Ran the prospector for another 3 hrs cleaning out twice. River kept dropping and it started to be a struggle to get the flow.. we called it at about 3.

Found something hung up on the grizzlies. I instantly felt it was a cocking lever or trigger to a gun. Would be very cool if I could confirm this but even better if I can find out what model of gun.

Woke up very sore on Sunday with a few few blisters on my feet from my new creek sneaks and a bruised and scratched wrist where I got nailed by large Boulder that gave way while trying to move it smaller brother....that was a close call. but had a great time again.

Oh and for some reason this gold had a lot of iron in it.. I did all the normal cleaning techniques. Magnet, bouncing and blowing but kept showing black. Under the scope I see why..that black sand ain't black sand....it's gold. Joe was kind enough to donate his black sands to me river side. Can't wait to mill this stuff! Thanks Joe!

This gold actually looks like what my rod mil produced.... I'm thinking the sand from this section of river are going to be even better then the sands I collected last year.

Hella jealous of those chunky monkeys. I wish we had chunkies in CO. That gold is gorgeous and so is that spot you worked.

Hiked all the way back to the truck to get the sangwich and then forgot the sangwich. Saturday was a blast. After weeks of on and off again rain and high water a crisp sunny day on a beautiful gold filled river with a great mining partner was just the thing. Got some gold in the high flats which involved scraping 2" of sandy gold off of the exposed bedrock. Could not have asked for more. Hope to get out again soon with you.

Lmao! Right! I do stuff like that...funny thing is I did the the exact same thing last time with School of hard knocks...left this tidbit out of the story so I'll tell it now.

Also brought a Sammy for lunch this weekend...I not only left tit in the truck but I left my Bazooka leaning against it. I went into panic mode when I realized...damn the sand which someone's gonna snatch that 200 sluice for sure.

In chest waders I run back to the truck at almost full speed. While running I think we'll at least I can grab my sand which! But alas i was so happy to see my Zook I forgot...lol

Maybe the lunch Sammy isn't meant to be! Actually I thinks it's just getting distracted by not being alone. There is so many things to forget I like to be take my time packing up gear but I always feel rushed when not alone.

Hey by the way that looks like some good gold. I'd ask you to weigh it but we all know that never happens. Might by have to buy you a scale for Christmas!

Man I also managed to pick up a tiny bit of poison oak. One spot on my shin. One on my arm just below t-thirst sleeve.. I saw it on the trail but obviously not being careful enough.....ugh, **** is the devils plant...

You definitely should think something different for lunch. If you buy me a scale or Xmas that will be three that I own yet never use. The contents of the sniffer got dumped into the pan on the counter with the rest of the sniffers. I am thinking of doing a cleanup soon.

Hanging out with my daughter this weekend and bumming around the house.

Can't always be at the dig but I'm always mining...

Cleaned out last year's panning tub. Screened it down to -20 and ran it on my new recirculating cleanup sluice.

Started with 4 gallons ended up with 1 maybe 1 1/2 gallons after classifying. I only ran for 20 minutes until it seemed like the V rib was packed up. So it took 3 runs to get through all that material. I then re ran the tailing and only found a very small amount, mostly bigger stuff so I will be classifying down to 50 next time.

The battery I ordered works well. Since it only takes 20 minutes to pack the riffles. One hour run time is plenty. The charger works well also. Takes about 45 minutes to charge back to full.

Def works alot better then the Miller table so that's gonna be sold.

Happy easter tnet!

Headed out Saturday to do a little prospecting on a new stretch of river.

Parked the truck at 915am and hit the trail. Took about 45 minutes to get to the edge of the ravine and then a very steep trail down. I new it was gonna suck going back up but it wasn't dangerous terrain so I just sucked it up. About 1/3 of the way down there was just a weird random sleeping bag...someone had a ruff night lol.

When I got down I saw a huge hand stack. Crazy how big some of those rocks are. Then a little camp. Bag of trash and flying pan with a little camp fire. Fire was cold so I figured none was around.

Beautiful weather and the scenery was spectacular as usuall. Made my way downstream a bit over some bedrock and trying to get a little closer to the leading edge of the inside curve I was on. There is a set of Rapids right at that spot so I decided working below the last rapid where the water fanned out would probably be best.

Had just the gold pan today. So I went to work on a trough that was about 6 inches under the water line. Was pulling nice color but alas the best stuff was left in the cracks as I just couldn't get any more out, started being counter productive. I noticed that this trough had some smaller ones right behind it and was kinda like a natural sluice so I worked the next one and got a sizeable flake. Cleaned them all in about 2 1/3 - 3 hrs.. should be 20 minutes with a small dredge!

Great news everyone! The curse of the forgotten Sammy is over. It was voraciously consumed at about 12 oclock. Had a couple small kayak groups come through. None of which was very friendly... I really am not a small talk wave at every one ongoing by kinda guy but every kayaker loves to gawk at me so I try to be nice and waive. The first guy stared at me did not waive back so I watched him and he grabbed the attention of his buddy and started pointing back at me... I yelled something out to him.. funny how they think they own the river.

Anyways, made my way back up after I found the trail... Lost it for about 5 minutes. Phew! Had to stop at literally every little switch back for a breather. And good thing I did because I looked down and 3 ft in front of my right in the trail is a baby rattler. He was just sunning himself and not shaking his rattle. The trail is tight and there really was a easy way around. I looked briefly for a stick to nudge him but there wasn't one... I figured probably better to not piss him off so I just squeaked by him. He only turned his head but made no aggressive move and I was past him. Debated on wearing my new snake guards but didnt. Welp there out now for sure so I will be next time.

Saw some other Interesting stuff on the trail like some private property sign that I was able to go well around and a Santa hat tied to a tree.. random.

1/4 gram almost in 3 hrs with a gold pan. That ain't to bad.
