Well, its that time that I sat down and started documenting my adventures.. Ive learned a lot on my journey and am constantly learning each day, but lack the ability to slow down and take a few pictures here and there and taking the time to look back on some of my experiences and finds.. Honestly thats where the real gold is, we all work so hard in so many ways to ease the addiction with just a few specs of the yellow stuff here and there when we can, but the real value of it all lies in the experience to be had. Why else spend $40+ on food and fuel to drive and work all day for $20 worth of gold??

Sometimes you get lucky and stumble onto something really exceptional, be it gold or a new area with potential or a good story to tell. Even the unluckiest of days are likely full of wisdom and can be valued later. Its all how you take everything in and apply it later that really separates the successful from the not so much. Ive always felt that a good intuition is formed from taking in everything that life can offer, listening for the right info be it from a person or nature, spiritual etc.. Sure it can be hard at times to understand and apply this info, but its just that what makes you who you are in this life.

With all that said, Id like to share my experiences and adventures with anyone who would like to hear them, and hear and share any stories you may have as well! Im no one special or exciting, just a down to earth guys with a decent head on his shoulders who loves anything gold related, and frequently goes on adventures all over gold country in CA. Im still learning and working on my skills all the time so Id appreciate any comments anyone might have, more than likely one of us along might learn a thing or two along the way.

This is going to be a bit sloppy and unorganized going forward, It would be ideal to posts pics and a story with each and that is the plan moving forward but I will also be posting random pictures of my last gold adventures as well and give some brief info with them as well. So posted below is some photos related to my past outings, then I will start being much more detailed from then on.

Heres what everyone should want to see, the GOLD!

Heres a few photos of camp and the toys used to get on the gold. I purchased a trailer last fall and so did my father. He left his up near my claim this summer and was a nice base to work from. I had mine all over gold country this year, the lower photos are at the north fork of the north fork campground, we could look out our window on the trailer and were overlooking the river! We also ride dual sport bikes that really help get us on decent ground. 20140814_144026.jpg 20141101_123647.jpg 20150726_180155.jpg 20150726_182625.jpg 20150926_144415.jpg 20150926_144633.jpg 20150926_144659.jpg 20150725_115108.jpg 20150828_131225.jpg

OK, back on track lol.. Last trip out to "Color County" was a good one, found some decent gold and some of what I believe to be some type of plume agate that will surely make into some beautiful cabs. It had been a while since I ruffed it out on the diggings, Ive been lucky to own a travel trailer and have my dad's also in a central location in gold country this summer as a base camp and that has been so nice. I do love being out close to the river though and it was a nice change of pace. Our hike in was about a mile and a half walking through the river bed most of the time which really slows the pace down. Almost always I pack very minimalistic and mostly just crevice and pan but decided to bring the BGT this time and I glad I did. I found a layer of ancient cemented gravel on top of a very blond sand with pea sized clear cobble layer like nothing ive ever seen and ran all that I could through the bazooka. There was not much of this material but it yielded me my largest pieces of the trip, and also the chunk of agate as well. We focused mainly on the high bench placers as we mostly do, its been my experience sometime they are still as rich as they were 100+ years ago in some instances as most overlook these areas. Some of my best gold has come for deposits like this. We didnt get much except some poison oak this trip, but did run into some small deposits that held a decent amount of talcum powder gold which is why we dubbed the area "Color County".. We were trying to locate the suburb or "Nugget town" but never did find this place though im sure it exists there somewhere nearby. It rained on us most of the day Saturday but was warm with no wind and we just worked through it. we built camp towards the end of the day and were surprisingly comfortable at night as I thinking we were so beat up that any rest would do. We feasted on the finest dining that Color county offered which turns out was hotdogs and beans yet they were delicious I must say! The next day we worked hard again but did not do as good this time and I think it wore on us a little as the day progressed. Around one or so we took down camp and packed up and were on our way out and luckily made it out without any major incident. I only did .53 grams this trip for two days which isnt terrible but not great either, Erik did about the same. Maybe one day we will return to the area for some further investigating but I feel better ground is to be had elsewhere..

Yesterday Was spent with Goldenmojo and Mytimetoshine at a newly discovered, un disclosed Color County location, and boy Eric sure ran into something good! From about a fist size of dirt he pulls probably around 3/4 of a gram in a single pan I tell you! Check out his journal and see for yourself it was quite a pan! Aint seen something like that in a long time Joe said.. I aint never seen a pan like that ever I dont recall.. Hat is off to you Eric! Had a blast with both of them guys there good fellas for sure. We were on some good ground and I think we all went home with something decent, I pulled .44 grams in the time we were there, lots of lil flakes..I wish I could say more about the trip but honestly we found a good spot and want to keep it that way, so I cant say much.. I will say that you should have seen Joe and I after we saw that great pan, It felt like a real gold rush for a second there we were frantically looking for the next dig as close to Eric as possible LOL. Im wore the heck out today letting my back recoup, cant wait to get back there!

Alright! I'm glad you started your journal. I have no doubt that you will be posting a lot of eye candy aka: Gold! That's what this site needs. More doing and getting and less talking about. Although I do love a good 30 page back and forth thread about mining law or burlap sacks covered in Vaseline but who doesn't right?

Can't wait to get back at it. You and Mojo have a standing invite on any trip I go on.

Thank you much Delnorter, hopefully I'll remember to take more photos and mental notes on each of my trips to have something good to share.. Seems like the quality of the ground im working dictates my ability to slow down and take a few photos lol..

Same goes to you Eric, will let you know the next time I have available and hopefully we can get back on it soon! I wanted to share as many pics as I could without giving too much detail to location away, but some here could probably recognize a few spots maybe. I always love seeing what others are getting and a picture says a thousand words ya know.. Wish I had some more pics to share, actually im working on some i'll post soon..

That's some pretty sweet gold you have there! I know some times we get all wrapped up in our quest. But the one thing you have to remember is you have to stop and smell the roses and take some pictures! Sounds like your journal is off to a great start! Can't wait to read future posts on your gold adventures.

I used to be fast paced as well. had my own resto / rod shop for 20 yrs. worked 60-70 hrs. a week. Until I had a stroke at 49. No choice had to slow down but it made me realize that I was missing, the finer things or the more important things in life. And thanks on the gold! That's one of the things I did better at. Before I would have been bouncing around the river, now being slower I studied the river found more gold!
