Learn to solder instead of braze. Go to www.riogrande.com to get the right solder and flux too.

PS I just made a ring from fine silver. Good to practice on silver before I try gold! I took a 4 hour class on how to make it...good fun!

Might be cheaper to buy some gold shot from a jeweler or some placer online. The time and money in a few grams you find yourself could easily exceed a few small sweet nuggets online.
You can always say you "found them". Don't say you found them online. Just an idea? Hehe

I did find a site recently that sells good chunky gold for a pretty good price.
