Would you tell a stranger that he bought a haunted house?

In 1958,my parents bought an old house that was dormant for several years, and later it was learned that the previous owner had committed suicide by hanging himself in the house.
In the early months of living there,we could hear noises like a rope was being stretched, and there was a blood splatter on one wall, that no matter how many times it was painted over,it always reappeared.
Outside,in the backyard corner of the house,my dog would not cross that area, and would bark at something that was not there.I could be 1 foot away from her,and call her,but she would not cross that area, but go around the entire house to come to me.
One night,I was in that area, when I saw someone approach. At first,I thought is was a friend, until it got close, and I realized that it was transparently white, and did not touch the ground.Needless to say,I ran into the house, but no one believed what I saw.
During the early 1960's,they built an addition on the house,in this very area, and things began to escalate.Figureines would fly off dressers, coffee cups on hooks in a cupboard would fly and crash against the kitchen wall and sometimes hit my stepfather in the head, and one night, while we all were in the living room watching TV,my little sister's ball came rolling down the hallway, stopped, made a right turn, rolled into the center of the living room, and rolled around in a large circle several times, then stopped, made another right turn to the hall, then a left turn down the hall.
My mother was a large woman, and many times, while she was in bed, something would lift the foot of the bed,and violently shake it.She also claimed to have seen "a large black hairy worm with green eyes" peer at her from behind the TV.
There was a lot of violence in that house, and I left in the late '60's,and never went back, nor will I ever enter that house again.
My stepfather and mother both died in that house,my sister inherited it,lived there a few years as it was paid for, but took out a second mortage to buy another house, and let it become delapidated. When she died, her daughter inherited the house, but let it go into foreclosure. It remained vacant for several more years.
In the last year,it has been restored for sale, and a young family has recently moved in.
Would you introduce yourself to the new owners, and tell them of the events that I had witnessed and the history of the house? If I hadn't experienced this,I doubt that I would believe it if told by a stranger, but something strange exists in that house,be it good or evil,or just a prankster spirit.
Any advice?

As I mentioned,I have not been to that house or on the property for over 40 years, nor do I have a vested interest in it.My neice, who let it go into foreclosure, has told me that when she lived there with her mother, that the phenomenon of sounds, flying objects, and cold spots were still happening.
While all the physical "events" were directed at my mother and stepfather, they were never directed at me or my much younger stepsister.I touched briefly on the violence in that house,my parents became extremely cruel and violent, especially towards me.
My only concern is if a malevolent presence is in that house,I would hate to see another family go through that experience...but,if this was told to a stranger, would they believe it,or just think that I was a crank or a nutcase?

I'd say introduce yourself as a previous dweller of the house but tell nothing to start, (ask, and let them tell you) if anything is happening there.
PS....I happen to live one right now, but no violence involved! ;)

My home is haunted as well, with mostly peaceful spirits, but one bad one comes occasionally - that one is a danger. When people visit to stay the night, I tell them about it, give them a choice. My children refuse to sleep there. In the six times the bad one has visited me personally, I immediately break into prayer and it goes away. In 2000 it was so disturbing I contacted a medium. He came and was really wacked out - and then he named my stepfather by full name. It didn't make him any less wacky, but lent credibility to what he said. He told me the place had been haunted since the 1860's, there were 142 lost souls there, 11 negative entities, and one fallen angel. The first time I experienced the fallen angel was 1958. When I moved there in 2000, it came after me 5 times that I know of. I took to having prayer meetings there, and started sleeping with my bible over my heart. The bad one stopped coming and has been absent since. The lost souls occasionally show up. One time my stepfather walked through the house to the kitchen sink and started playing with the fixtures. The next day, the water went out. He was telling us we were going to have trouble.

Most of the souls are relatives. The property has been in my family since about the early 1730's.

Most who read this will immediately dismiss my story, and I don't have a problem with that. My intent is to show that these things do happen, do exist.

I don't want to suggest that you tell the current residents - if they've experienced nothing, then they'll immediately dismiss you. I agree that you should let them tell you if they are experiencing anything. Your approach is that the house was your home of childhood and that is your only interest.

If they blow you off, then let them find out on their own. At least you will have satisfied a need you have within you.

I will say that these experiences certainly strengthen your faith!

Good luck.

Mostly agree with you...but I was kicked out of Sunday School at about 7 yrs old...and never went back (except weddings & funerals). What ever people what to believe, or not, is fine with me...I myself (with witnesses as well) have/had my own events through-out life, and rarely ever divulge any/little of it to a select few..just deal with it in my own way.
Take Care. ;)

Thank you all for the advice. The new owners bought the house, which was built in 1933,on Dec,Friday 13,1013,which is spooky in itself.I will probably wait for several months for them to settle in,and then maybe approach them with the curious about my childhood home story.Needless to say,I do not want to enter that house, because I have been told that spirits can attach to someone and follow them home.
I must mention, that after I left that house in the '60's,I have never had any other paranormal experiences.Once was quite enough.

I will share with you what I did; my older brother and I grew up in a house that FIRST owner also committed suicide in; when our dad bought the house in 1938 (built in 1911)... the RE Agent told him; you won't like it, as it is HAUNTED! HA! Dad poohed-poohed such, as he DID NOT believe in Ghosts; mom was unsure but did experience stuff, NEVER telling us boys. WE experienced bangs, knocks, COLD rooms, COLD spots, weird dreams, and we would NEVER go up to the attic, after dark (attic is where first owner hung himself). "Fast-forward" to after Dad died (2004); Mom lived alone and HATED it... knocks under the floor, "foot-steps" in the attic. Mom "zoning out" like being possessed; MEANEST eyes we (sons) have EVER seen... VERY hostile, and NOT "like her". Tearing down older buildings of the home-place, that the FIRST,owner had put up (barn, hog-pen, chicken coop, coal-house, dog pens (2), and another "out-building". Mom "fell down" or was "push down", when I was there; she asked "what happened?" I SMUDGED the basement, 2nd & 3rd floor (attic); didn't "do" the 1st floor as she was living there; SMUDGING is ancient Native American "practice", and it smells like smoking POT! HA! Not "doing" the 1st floor was a mistake; I went there (home in Shenandoah Valley), staying over night, sleeping on 1st Floor (Mom was in a "Home for the Elderly", @ 6 miles away). I experienced HOSTILE "something", a Spirit or ??? that apparently Mom experienced but NEVER told us about; a "enity" was "flying around" the room, asking questions like "WHO are YOU?" WHY are YOU here?" Oppressive environment, restless night... SO! Shoulda SMUDGE the 1st Floor after Mom died in 2011, but didn't; the "smell" of POT there, woulda raised eye-brows & questions (I don't smoke POT). SMUDGING the old home-place woulda been good to do, "google" SMUDGING. My older brother is retired, pt.-time RE Agent. A young couple DID buy the old home-placed; did he disclose...? NOT that I know of; get the OLD places for sale SMUDGED, first. Good luck!
BTW, in SMUDGING... I used ROYAL SAGE.

I grew up in a house that was haunted. My dad offered to give me the house and sell my house and keep the money. I said no way you sell it and keep the money. He got a little pissed off at me for some reason. It has been about 20 years and I have only been by that house about 3 times. It scares the crap out of me. I remember seeing 4 men playing cards by a kerosene lantern one night in the living room when I was around 7 years old. The whole living room had a hazy orange glow to it. After that sightings became more frequent. I am curious if any other owners have experienced anything in that house, but I am just to scared to knock on the door.

Rebel-KGC,I have seen the "hostile eyes" in my mom many times in those days, and it always led to her being violent.
I guess my question concerning the new owners is this, can the "presence" still be in that house, waiting?

I would introduce myself as a former tenant, then ask to metal detect their yard. Aside from that, I'd mind my own business.

The presence can stay there! Regardless of the house being haunted it could also be the land. But yes a spirit can attach itself to a house or any object from that spirits past. To truly figure out what was there I would set up some cameras and run some evp's when no one is home and see if you catch anything odd and try and debunk some of the more familiar noises. Sometimes just negative energy is normal depends on your state of mind.

Just want to say that I believe the stories, because of my own personal experiences. After "death" Life does go on and some of "us" aren't ready to leave just yet, or can't. I once had an experience where there was "someone" unseen hanging around. We moved to a house in the mountains and this "person" was hanging around in my room. I could just "feel" him and whenever I got sick it was much easier and sometimes could even see the dark form. The kicker was when we moved...he followed and believe it or not, even told me his name! I mean I heard his voice plain as day and all he did was say his name. I don't think he was bad or evil, maybe just wanted to be notice or helped? Never did do any research on it at the time, so have no proof if he had lived there or anything. There's so much more to "life" than we know of......thanks for sharing the stories everyone!

Sorry, forgot to answer the question....I think I'd tell them that the place has lots of "atmosphere" , sort of a heads up for them that something is maybe a bit different about it. And if they asked, tell them what it is.

I would not say anything. some people such as myself do not believe in this sort of thing at all. I am not trying to discredit your experience, how ever, If I was buying this house I would use this to my advantage and pay well below market value .... Just saying .. you do not have to disclose your beliefs to sell a house ...

I would tell them.

I was not a believer in this sort of thing until my sister's family bought a house that turned out to be haunted. The spirit was mean to their 5 kids, dozens of incidents. They had their minister come and try to get rid of it, and it seemed to work.

Tell them, if they laugh it off, at least you tried. GL

As far as the first question, ask a real estate agent. A lot of people think these are 'haints", as my mother and her mother used to call them. Something that is, but "ain't" there. Most people think it's ghosts, but when we've gone to wherever we're "going", were gone. They are what our ancestors called "familiar spirits". Agents of darkness trying to deceive us lowly mortals into thinking a loved one has come back as a ghost. AKA demons. Demons can be made to leave, but you just have to have the authority to get rid of them. Better not "hire out", either. Your minister can help, conceivably. Authority is the key here. You have to have someone with an authority greater than the demons to make them scatter. In 1996 I was physically attacked by a demon (didn't get hurt or scared) and punched it's sorry **s back to eternity. It never came back. It's a little hard to get your mind around the concept. I certainly do not discount your story, but the source of the problem lies in evil well past, not in the deceased. Anybody want my references PM me.

That makes sense. There was a suicide in my sister's house too, everyone assumes this is the origination of the haunting, but it could have been just a former tenant that was driven to suicide by the evil spirits.
