I slammed on the brakes and tried to steer behind it, hoping to miss the thing but bracing for a really hard hit - and as I was looking at the deer it seemed as if I could see through it (it looked 100% solid when it leaped from the roadside) and as it cleared the lane, it vanished entirely! I was now slowing a lot, and about thirty feet farther on, in the passing lane, there laid a dead deer (a doe) that had obviously been dead for hours, the blood was already dry. I had just seen a ghost of a deer, in broad daylight. Never had that happen before, I guess it was showing me how it had died. Sure gave me the jitters for a bit, had to stop and get a coffee break after that one!

Please do continue, great posts amigos!

    The facts behind the factoids
OK, here's a story that I was told about 30 years ago, more or less, and wondered if anyone else has heard anything similar.

I called the USGS office in Denver, looking for information pertaining to aerial photography used to produce the 7.5 minute quad sheets. It was a technical question, and I was forwarded to a techie. He was pretty well-informed and answered my question quickly and efficiently. An able nerd. Before hanging up, we shot the breeze a bit. He was curious about SW New Mexico (where I was living). He had never visited there and was wondering about the wildlife - he was an avid hunter and told me about his favorite parts of Colorado. Except, he said, this one particular range, where he will never enter again (I believe it was in the northwest part of the state). "Why not?", I asked. "Just because," he said. Me: "What happened?" "You won't believe me", he said. Me: "Oh, come on." Him: "Well, OK." The story below is my memory of what he told me - a little hazy, but correct as far as I can recall the details.

He and his son had elk tags some years prior to our phone conversation and were walking a well-used trail, following elk sign. They heard animals approaching them from behind, and when they turned to see what was coming, they saw a dozen or so elk trotting toward them in single file. They were a bit surprised and stepped off the trail and just stood there as they watched elk began to pass them at a slow lope. The guy watched the first few pass, and then as his gaze shifted back to the rest of them, he said that he saw - "plain as day" - out of his peripheral vision, that the elk all had riders on them. The riders were very small and were riding bareback. "I know you're going to think I'm nuts," he said, "but these guys looked just like what we'd call leprechcans. They wore old-style clothes and funny little hats." When the guy saw this, he turned his head straight-on to one of the elk, but saw nothing but the animal - no rider. When he turned his head away, then he could see the riders again. He did this two or three times - the riders were only visible from the side vision. He told his son to do the same thing, and the son saw riders too, but only once at the end of the parade. It frightened the guy to the point that he quit the hunt and returned to Denver. He had nothing more to add. The whole event happened in about ten seconds, but the memory of it remained "crystal clear", he said.

Good one Charlie. Speaking of Indians, here's another one. Back in the 1970s, I house-sat for a couple weeks for some friends who lived in a fairly remote house in North Hurley, NM - right on Whitewater Creek and right at the base of an escarpment known as Geronimo's Lookout. One night I was sleeping and woke up when I heard what sounded like a bunch of people running through the house. The noise came from the front of the house - I was sleeping in the back - and was a bunch of thumping on their wood floor, back and forth, like kids chasing each other. The dog and cat were freaked out, so I peeked out there and saw nothing.

When my friends got back, I mentioned it to them. The husband said, "Yeah, I'm not surprised. This house is built on an Indian ruin, you know. Some of the rock walls are exposed out there in front where we park. Ruth (oldest daughter) won't even sleep in her bedroom anymore. She takes the couch since that one night when she woke up and saw that Indian brave standing at the foot of her bed looking at her. He sort of melted away, and she hasn't slept in there since."

Does your PC have or feel paranormal experiences? You are no different - silicon computers or carbon computers.

Actually you are very different. No computer is self-aware, for instance, nor can any computer reproduce. There is a reason why there are several major religions in the world, all claiming there is some kind of life after the death of our physical bodies.

In fact a surprising argument was made recently that we are in a computer simulation right now, everything that exists. Hard to disprove. However if you are interested, there is real evidence of life after death, but you will have to research it for yourself as I don't have the time right now.

    BUMP--

The house next door to my grandparents was built around 1900--if not earlier--and two elderly sisters lived there together for a long, long time. They were what I would call recluses as I saw them outside no more than twice during my entire childhood. The only contact they had were the caretakers that would stay with them and the occasional visit from one of their family members or my grandmother. They passed away when I was 16 or 17 and the house was passed down to a grandson who decided to renovate and build onto the house before he moved his own young family in there.

Well fast forward to when the flooring guys get in there to redo the floors and the grandson who's renovating the house gets a call at work from the flooring contractor asking him to come do something about his grandmother because she keeps getting in the way of his guys, keeps telling them they are doing everything wrong, and will not leave them alone. This had been going on for a few hours before the phone call was made! So of course the grandson immediately leaves work to see what is going on and when he gets to the house the flooring guys are all confused and tell the grandson that they couldn't find his grandmother--she had last been sitting in a rocking chair in the living room but they had no idea as to where she went. At this point the grandson explains that his grandmother--or her sister--is no longer living and walks into the house where he says out loud that this is now his house--not hers. That was the last I've heard of anything happening in that house.
