In 1971, a tragedy occurred in which one of the Melvins' grandchildren, eight-year-old Douglas Legg, was lost in the forest at Santanoni and never seen again. The family had no wish to return to the scene of this tragedy and quickly contracted with the newly formed Adirondack Conservancy Committee of The Nature Conservancy to purchase the entire Santanoni Preserve.

Just an idea but "if" they are on private prop owned by the scout organization might be worth trying to get permission from the main body to hunt any of them, letting them know u are a professional and never leave dug holes or trash they might grant u permission. LOL plus if u offer to share any old finds like very old pins or nic naks (very valuble i hear) they might be more interested.
