Camp Pine Knot was the first of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks. Accessible only by boat in summer, and across the ice in winter, it is located at the heart of the Adirondack Park, along the shores of scenic Raquette Lake, and just down the road from Blue Mountain Lake and the famous Adirondack Museum

In 1971, a tragedy occurred in which one of the Melvins' grandchildren, eight-year-old Douglas Legg, was lost in the forest at Santanoni and never seen again. Re: Abandoned Boy /Girl Camp Sites

Did a lil search for ya some may still be inuse others not used, by states

this one list the oldest camps in the country

Just an idea but "if" they are on private prop owned by the scout organization might be worth trying to get permission from the main body to hunt any of them, letting them know u are a professional and never leave dug holes or trash they might grant u permission. LOL plus if u offer to share any old finds like very old pins or nic naks (very valuble i hear) they might be more interested.
