a good General Book is Where to find Treasure by Dick Stout

Charles Garrett also puts out some How to books

For the most part, Local Histories are the best.

I also Like & Subscribe to W&E Treasures of course.

Yep, the very best leads to treasure are found in articles and books that do NOT have the word "treasure" anywhere in it. For the most part, I don't buy treasure books except for How-to books written by people who know of what they speak. I've seen a couple of books hawked on a thread that were obviously rewrites of OTHER people's work. I stick with the names I know; Stout, Sickler, Von Mueller, etc. The best, most reliable author of western history is probably Glenn Shirley.

Here is the list of books that I have: The New Successful Coin Hunting by Charles Garrett
Treasure Hunting: Seek and You Shall Find by Eddie Okonowicz
Basic Coin Shooting for Treasure Hunters by Robert (Bob) Katt
Coraopolis - a local historical picture book
Pennyslvania Ghost Towns: Uncovering the Hidden Past by Susan
Hutchinson Tassin.
Buried Treasure of the Mid-Atlantic States by W.C. Jameson
Where to Find Treasure by Dick Stout
United States Treasure Atlas Volume 8 by Thomas P. Terry.
A Guide to Treasure in Pennsylvania by Michael Paul Henson
Buried Treasures that You can Find by Robert F. Marx.
Buried Treasures of the Appalachians by W.C. Jameson
and a handful of ones that I have forgetten about/misplaced.

Some of the magazines that are available are: Lost Treasure (www.losttreasure.com)
Treasure Depot Magazine (www.thetreasuredepot.com)
Gold Prospectors (www.goldprospectors.org)
Western & Eastern Treasures (www.treasurenet.com)

Your local library should have a local history section or a historical society that might also be of some great help.

Nobody mentioned the Bible. If you find the lost ark I want a share...
