OLD TOOL OF SOME TYPE

Found in a farm field.

Base moves up and down, has indent for top piece to be screwed into, tip of top piece is round.

Anyone have any idea what it is?

Looks like a vise of some sort maybe? try cleaning it up maybe theres markings on it

It is a hand vise with a small piece missing.

i'm gonna say hand-cranked grain mill... minus a couple pieces. it looks fairly similar to my great grandmother's .. down to the decorative end on the screw-piece.

It is a tire tube clamp. The bottom is broken off where it clamps on to a table or board, the top has the vertical clamp that holds the patch. It works like a "C" clamp. Most were the "hot patch" type that you lit with a match and it bonded to the tube. Every farm had these to patch tires in trucks and tractors. I allways enjoyed watching my Grand Pa us his. It seems like the brand was "Monkey Patch." Thanks for the post, it brings back good memories!
