Gettysburg gives up a "US" Belt Buckle and a .58 Cal.
I have been hitting the field where I work really hard lately but only with two or three hour hunts at the most. As I have stated in another post, I am blessed to be able to hunt where I work as it is near the first days battle of Gettyburg. Until this past Saturday morning, the majority of my finds are a boatload of extremely rusted metal items of no value, screws, nails, railroad spikes, a complete intact horseshoe (not sure if from the civil war or not) and about $10.00 +/- in clad. I have also found four miniball rounds.
But this past Saturday morning I was on a mission. I told my wife I was gonna hunt from sunup to sundown, it was going to be a good all day hunt I told myself and I couldn't wait to get at it. I got there at 0630 and started right away. By 1100 I had seen three deer, found about a $1.00 in clad and more typical rusted pieces of who knows what. At 1115 I found a sweet perfect dropped condition .58 cal. (I think) three-ringer at about four inches. Now I'm stoked. My very next find was a "US" Belt Buckle and it still had a small piece of leather attached to it. The plate was laying almost perfectly on its back with the leather piece hidden under it as I didn't see it until I picked it up out of the hole and turned it over. The two small hooks were missing (where the leather was) but you could still see their marks left on the small piece of leather. I couldn't believe what I had just found, I was completely blown away. To me, that was a find of a lifetime. What a hobby this is. HH to all, and thanks in advance for looking.

Re: Do I see a Bullet mark left of the "U"?
Wondered the moment I saw that. Nice find, been in the same mode, two weeks ago biked for two miles up a railroad grade, then hiked a mile up to the top of an abandoned mine village. Not much found but gave it all that day. Did not crawl out of the woods till after dark.
