    Eagle button and ?

Found a semi crushed eagle button tonight along with this other item. I know what the holed brass item is, but my friend does not. I was wondering if you guys could surprise her by finding out the possible make/model of the item and post a complete picture of one if anyone can find a pic.

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: Eagle button and ?

The butt plate is likely from a U.S. Model 1841 "Mississippi" rifle. The side cut out is for the brass "patchbox" which in this case actually carried spare nipples/cones. I have owned a couple in the past but none now. Google this model and you will see all you need to see. Good finds! Take care, Geologyjohn
