Be interesting to research and tie an actual soldier's history with the plate...the historic value only adds credence to the find...

Very nice. Pretty green patina and makers on the back to boot. Even though it lost its hooks that makers name brings it up. Nice find. JR

To my knowledge, tyhis is the first plate recovered that has the name of the former owner engraved on it...

To me, this puts this plate at the top of the heap...

We now know who the owner was and probably research to see if he survived the CW or not...

Nice job! Makes it all the better when your son can share in the excitement. I love father/son teams. My own son (30 years old) was with me yesterday to just do a very short hunt. I think he's hooked . . . we didn't find anything but junk, but he got that glassy look in his eyes as we were searching and said, "I know what I want for Christmas."

BTW, was than an MXT you were hunting with?

Awesome! That's a fantastic day, by any standards. Back when digging was "good" around here, I found a total of 5 breast plates, but it's been so long ago that I would do a BIG happy dance to find another.
Diggin' is the only hobby I have left now, but I sho' do like it.  Excal, Tiger Shark, Silver uMax, HH Pirate, Eldorado uMax.
