    Only a well

Last fall we found a well in the woods near the base of a hill.
We detected for a while and found nothing and moved on.
Is there any reason to have a well and not live near it.
Should i hit it again. Thanks

    Re: Only a well

with no homestead in the area tells me that it is very possible that it was just a test well. onless it was a old crock well it could have been used for cattle? depending on the location.

    Re: Only a well

It was built solid . Im up in Mass and getting water is not a problem.
You dont have to dig deep to find it.
The one cellar hole we found is a half mile or more away late 1700s to 1800s.
on a hill with 3 Wells a stones throw from the cellar hole.
Maybe it was just for the live stock .

GO FISHING!!! Take a strong magnet on a string and toss it in the well. There is no telling what you might pull up. I have heard of people pulling out old guns and other cool stuff.
