11/20: Navy button and other camp finds

I got out last Sunday with a hunting buddy and hit a Union camp. I had been digging mostly bullets when the GS eagle button surfaced. Hoping for more good brass finds, I pounded that area for most of the afternoon. The ground in this field doesn't read very well, so I was digging practically every target I heard. Eventually this paid off with a Navy cuff that's loaded with gold. When I first pulled it from the dirt and saw the back of it, I thought it was trash: there's a hole where the shank should be and I've never seen that much gold on the back of a button, so it must be modern brass. Then I flipped it around and decided to show my friend. I also got the face to a civilian flower button. It was right on top of the ground and only registered a "Button 6" on my MXT because it's so thin, but it has a fair amount of gold. The weather was perfect and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for looking.
