    Research

I am new to metal detecting. Actually, I owned 2 several years ago but just hunted parks for coins. Fast forward 20 years and I want to get a detector for relic hunting. I live in Greene County, Tennessee and I know there was civil war activity in the area but I just recently took an interest in the civil war and don't know a lot. I know there is the Battle of Bulls Gap. What is the best way to research where to look? How does everybody find there honey holes? I love research. I just don't know how to go about researching places to hunt. Any hints you can give a newby?
