My family farm in North/Central NJ has multiple cellar holes throughout it (1890 acres) but one I just hit for the first time today. I have been told that this particular foundation is what used to be a pre-colonial stage coach stop and was burnt down by the British during the Revolutionary War. I found a Wagon Wheel, that still has a square nail attached to it (hoping that can help with dating it). The wheel is 5 feet in diameter and is about 50lbs. My phone died while out, so I was not able to take any pics of my other finds (a 5 foot 2 man saw, window glass and large burnt pieces of wood). Just before my phone died, I was able to take a panorama and a before and after pic to show also. I had my minelab se pro w/sunray coil and still could not get a single target isolated. So i guess I'll be doing a lot of digging and sifting.

If anyone can help me identify how old the wheel is it would be much appreciated, and if there is any value.

Would suggest online research of nail types. Older nails would be "rose head" (hand made by blacksmith). Later 19th century would be machine-cut square nails. Good find, sounds like a primo site with good potential.

Does anyone know if performing electrolysis would reduce the value of the wheel and other items?
