I found this in Raleigh NC. It was at a site that house three houses. One from 1850, 1873, and 1884. The oldest and newest both still stand. I found this about 8 inches down in the middle of the field between both houses. You can see it had writing on the top right, but very hard to see why it is. Any ideas? Also union and confederate troops camped in the area. The second item is solid brass with a wooden plug. It was dug in front of the 1850 house. One guy said it could be a tie from a colonial era wagon. Any more ideas. Thanks

First item looks like the flapper that goes on top of a tracktor exaust stack, and second item looks like a cork puller??? Just my 2 guesses.

The first item looks like pewter or pot metal, so I don't think it is an exhaust flapper. The second item is a wiffletree tip.
