Need help IDing a trigger guard

Found this trigger guard the other day, thought it might be from a Brown Bess musket but I am no expert in these matters. Can any one help me ID this trigger guard. It is 4in. long and 1in. wide at the widest spot.

Nice find, I just looked at a parts list of the brown bess, and the trigger guard is quite different. The tail end that extends up the butt stock appears to be 6-8 inches in length.....I think this might be from a later model springfield or enfield rifle. Still a great find.....gary
