I would like to share this amazing find from our AAHS team. As the founder, I am proud of our members and the work they do to preserve history. Today one of our stand out members located an undocumented Native American burial ground and ancient copper bracelets . Great work Ray Camp! The site was properly turned over to archeologist to be sure the remains were treated with respect and history would be preserved .

There are several pictures posted of the finds on our FB page. As I mentioned Ray Camp found this and did the right thing. He is a user on this forum as well. His user name is CSX.

No we do not. We have a meeting with the archeologist today at 2pm. Maybe we can learn more then. I will ask Ray if he could tell when he initially located them.

cool, this is why i asked, if they were trade beads they are easier to date, i worked for a C.R.M firm out of pa 20 yrs ago,and when we would encounter, burials with beads,or just beads in general, this was important for dating ,if before contact period, much harder to date. by the looks of the bones ,the burial is not that old, unless the soil is clay rich, which preserves quite well.most of the burials ive encountered were only teeth, mostly just the enamel,do to the acidity of the soil. very cool man.

I read it but was confused..sorry...the photo of the coppers walking away from the scene made an impression the words did not convey to me...

again, I apologize...correct behaviors should be rewarded.

i agree 100% !i do have strong feelings toward, the integrity of historical finds, most importantly with burials, the trade beads are extremely important, because usualy can be dated, and sourced. i applaude these guys for their actions!

Well guys a priest from the creek Indian tribe conducted a ceremony and reburied the remains. We deleted the photos of the remains from our fb page out of respect. I will be removing the bone photos here too. Ray was invited to attend along with the other state archeologist. We now have a good working relationship with both and will be assisting them in the future on projects.

copperculture

curious how far south these artifacts were found...copper culture is further north...
did the archy have anything to say on that topic?
i would just add a note here, if these are in fact (trade beads)from after contact period, then one may assume the copper utilized was also aquired through trade with spanish,or frenchies.good question,i am curiuos as well.
