Detected around an old log cabin a few days ago in Western AR,
it sets a few hundred yards off the main road, it is almost fallen over, & there are hugh rat nests in the corner.
M y Mother, who is 87, used to play with a little girl who lived here, I found a bottle under the cabin, a toy car, broken iron pot, broken glass, broken pottery, part of a toy gun, railroad spike, etc..
The hand dug well has old tires thrown in it.
I spent a peaceful afternoon there, saw a deer run by at the edge of a meadow, sad to see it rot away, old cabins are rare.

Nice finds..I especially like the car...You're right, It is very sad to see these log cabins rot away..They just don't make them like that anymore.

Holy cow, neat old cabin! Have you taken me past that one yet? I don't remember it.

Nice old car.

Great photo of the old cabin. It's a shame they are fading into oblivion, but with photos like yours they will always be with us in a way.

That's an interesting well, sure there's only old tires in it? I'm not suggesting you climb down to find out...too dangerous.

The bottle looks like an old Witch Hazel bottle from the 1930's to me, what do you think it contained when full?

Nice post fossis... great photos!

Kinda strange to think your Mom running around there playing when the thing was standing...

Must have been cool thinking you were re-tracing her steps...

Glad you had a good day! :)

Thanks, I could see to the bottom of the well, only one truck tire, inside, then water, the bottle may be syrup of Pepsin, fairly common in this area,

Thanks Montana, Sadly, my mom's memory is fading like the old cabin, she can no longer remember the little girl's name she played with, I try and record all the History before it is gone forever.

Did you check the well for any loose rocks, people used to hide cash behind those rocks but just be careful not to fall in .

Dig the outhouse! Look for a depression out from the door, and maybe a worn tiny trail leading to it. Old bottles in the now 'compost', and other things thrown or dropped in. Also around the hole, cause' when pants dropped, things dropped from the pockets. The deeper you go, the older the stuff. HH!

Looks like its been there so long the trees are pushing it over. Neat picture. I have an old log cabin nearby that has been covered with clap board, so it doesn't look as old until you look inside and see the logs through the walls falling apart. I tried detecting it, but unfortunealty, the place used to be a used car parts place and crap is ALL over in the dirt.

I would keep searching that place. Great site Good luck.
Burdie

When some hay rolls are moved, I will have a
new area to search, I have taken two different groups
to look around allready, (Okie Hillbillie's), & (Scotto), we
found things each time.

Couldn't find the depression, must have been
filled in, it's now a hay meadow around it, I found the
old bottle underneath the cabin.

Hey relikhunter, I'me in Leflore Co, maybe when
the gas prices get better.
I worked in Garden City two summers years ago, went
through "Boot hill" in Dodge, traveled through Witchita.
A few years later went through Kansas City.
& last year turned around in Baxter Springs, after a trip
into NE OK. ;D
What part you from in SE Kansas?
