I'm stumped.
At first I thought it was a final for a belt or leather strap but its open on both ends.
It's slightly more narrow on one end then the other.
Here are my other finds from this early 19 hundreds site.
cool looking relics GB. Are you hunting in all metal mode? Cool stuff doesn't need to be gold or silver for sure.
Here is a long shot wag on my part...
check out the ornate handles on these old mirrors. They are hollow. old brushes and such had similar handles. could have been one that was broken or cut of to be repurposed.
Hey there thanks.
I hardly ever use any discrimination and almost always hunt in all metal mode.
Besides relic hunting when those types signals are very interesting sometimes I find hearing all the available information gives me a much clearer picture of what's going on on a site.. I also have become pretty good at locating objects masked by iron that would otherwise be missed.
That's a pretty interesting guess I'm not so sure though looking closely at this piece its complete and not broken anywhere and is very thin comparatively.
I'm starting to think it may be a portion of a sheath.. Not sure though
Hi GatorBoy,
The clover looks like an old dress pin, the metal thing - I found one that looked something like that which had a harmonica in it. Great finds.
Hey thanks.. Forgot all about this thread.
It's hard to pick up in the photos but there's a definite taper in the width from one end to the other of that piece I really think it's part of a sheath or scabbard.
