Ahoy! This is the first thing I've found that's old since I started swinging a couple of weeks ago. Found it on the bank of a river in Kentucky. I can't find any photos of one exactly like it.

It could be an axe for fighting woods fires. The side where the rivets are coming may have held a foot long or so piece to rake with that has came off. The missing piece, if that is what it is, would look like the stationary part of a sickle hay mower and have some teeth on it. I think they are called fire rakes but that's just a guess...d2
