First time member, and this is my first post. I was told I should join, because I just started into metal detecting. Here is some front and back pictures of it. Anybody recognize the symbol? I searched my back yard today for the first time, found a crap ton of nails, but the only thing cool was this button cover. 20170219_174742.jpg

Thanks. So, just a regular button, nothing special. Wonder what the symbol means, or how old it is.

It is made to look like an old military button, but it's iron (rusted out) back gives it away. Also the image on the front is made "to look like" a military image. The shield is just like a US eagle button. google: Great Seal button... the devices on this button make it look similar to that button. The button is from the 1940s or newer.

Best of luck to you sir!
