Out searching the desert for whatever it has to offer. In the mountains outside Chloride the 11 year old found a couple 1/4" diameter or so 3-5" long solid rods that I assume are graphite. There we're in the area of some old mining sign but could also be more modern. Any idea what they are? Every time I search graphite rods I can aft through all the fishing pole hits. Thanks.

My thoughts exactly. Were you out towards White Hills or towards Kingman? If you were towards White Hills there were a couple ranches that I know and the owners were retirees or ready to retire from the railroad. One old fart (what he called himself no disrespect) would bring cases of batteries home from work. Used to think his initials were UPRR! Hey! all his shovels and pick had UPRR on them.
