Hey folks,

New to the forum and metal detecting in general, and happy to have found this place.

I picked up my first detector recently (Garret AT Max w/ Pro-pointer) as a way to get into the relic hunting hobby. I went out in my yard after I picked it up to test out the different settings and to see what kind of odds and ends I could find. I was surprised to discover that I have what appears to be some fairly dated material on my land. It's in a subdivision with medium sized lots, and certainly not the first place I expected to begin finding relics. I'm researching the history of it, but haven't hit on much as of yet.

I'm trying to get an approximate date of the items to help place the time period when this land would have been occupied.

  • Horse / Mule Show (first hit I got, and the first thing I ever dug out of the ground)
  • Nail
  • Unknown (has most of the word "Philadelphia" stamped on it.) Any ideas on what it could be?

Any help would be awesome.
