Seeking counsel

Heading to South Dakota at the end of the week. Would like to do some detecting. Been there many times so I know my way around some of it. I figure just hitting local pubs and cafes seeking potential spots and permission is probably the easiest to access sites. One place that really interests me is the barracks area at Igloo but need to learn who the owner is. Any tips would be helpful.
