I found this Colonial Brass Spoon Mold several years back but i have been inactive on posting up artifacts l have found because of being busy with life stuff.. :>( But anyways what do you think and has anyone else ever found one.?

This was found in an 1750's Spring-house/Livery in the foundation that had fallen in and i was removing the stones. This was still in the walls when i found it and yes i did use a metal detector that's why i removed the stones to see what it was..

Here's my non dug one. I love 18th century antiques although I don't have a lot of them. I think sombody else posted a dug complete one several years back. It is extremely cool (and rare I would think) to find both parts in good condition. I once bought some pewter ingots and cast a couple spoons with mine but that was years ago and they are long gone. It wasn't easy getting a good cast and I am experienced in minie ball and sinker casting and I only ended up getting two good ones on eight attempts. Really had to have the mold just the right temperature, too cool and you wouldn't get a full pour, too hot and the metal shrinkage while cooling made an imperfect cast.

Mostly pewter but i guess they could have made silver ones.. I think they lined the inside with wax just my guess..
