I found this piece at an old farmhouse a couple of weeks ago, from the moment I found it I knew it had potential! First, I took it to one of my equipment rental customers and asked them if I could use their bench grinder, I then proceeded to grind off the 'prongs' on the underside of the ring. Having done this I took it to a local jeweler here in town that's helped me restore a couple of other rings I've found this year. The jeweler and I decided on which type of 'letter script' would look best and had the ring engraved with my initial. He charged me all of $15 for this service!

Initially, I was going to 'tumble' the ring to remove the patina, but after seeing how the letter β€˜K’ pops out of the face, I've decided to leave it as is! If anything, the patina lets everybody see how old it really is and it makes for a great story!

Let me know what you think!
Dave

That is one really great ring! I never thought of doing this. But it totally works!

I thought it was much better then 'scrapping it' and now I have a fancy ring to wear when I get dressed up! :laughing9:
You must find a few of these when you're hunting eh Buck?

Thanks for your post CMT.
I'm always trying to think of ways to re-purpose, re-store or re-use the items that we and others find.

I just thought that the 'shield' looked cool and it had a slightly 'Medieval or Armorial' look to it. :icon_king:

Take care buddy,
Dave

Good morning grins, these are the points where the finger loop attached to the side of the candle stand. Here's a pic of what the candle stand may have looked like and of another finger loop that I found and repurposed in 2020.

Thanks very much for your interest,
Dave
