Hello. I dug this pommel yesterday on a 1680's site and had it up on the "what is it" board hoping for an exact date, as each one as slight variations in the profile. All I can find so far is that this style of pommel was used from the late 1600's to early 1800's. I'm hoping that one of you Rev. War buffs might be able to date it exactly. (There was both Rev. activity near the property and War of 1812 activity here, and to confuse things more, the property was owned by sea captains for the previous hundred years.....and to confuse things even more, a few years ago I dug hilt on the same property dating from the 1840's!) The pommel is a hair over two inches long, and quite weighty. Here are the scans, along with a couple swords I found on google which shows at least this type of pommel.

*I am also including a scan of the hilt I found on a different part of the property years ago, just so you can confirm for me these two parts do not go together and are from different periods ? (to save me from digging up the yeard to find something I may possibly already have found) Thanks for your help.
