Today i found this old relic while detecting. The field i was in is between two old war roads used during the revolutionary war and one of the locals who seemed to know a thing or two about the old military history here came out to the field and gave me a lot of good info about the area. he pointed to a spot about a half mile away and said there had been a hessian camp there and he said he thought this was a hessian shoe buckle. even tried to buy it off of me. It does appear like there is some ware on each side where leather straps would have held it onto a shoe or boot. can anyone with more revolutionary war knowledge help me out?
