LOL.. I found this while driving around down by Parker, Az. I know they use to have turqoise mines down that way, so I guess it could be turquoise or chrysocolla? I am still a newb at this, so I am trying to learn as much as possible. It looks like it has a touch of gold or fools gold rite on top. But whatever it is it looks very cool.

I am unsure what to do with it however it slightly reminds of boulder opal and also slightly with fire agate on one side.

chrysocolla it could be to, if you still have it some tests could limit the possibilities.

I want to thank Bink for sending the item of interest. I will be taking it to a museum geologist this week. Here are two more pics. I'll keep you all updated when I get it assessed.

thanks , as for auctions probably not, these are sold before I`m finished. It takes me awhile to finish something. I look and look at it , put it down , pick it up and look and look, sometimes I dont see anything in the piece that I want to cut so I leave it for a later day. I might put some rough/raw up later for tumblers or cabbing.

Took the specimens to the local geologist. He was not the certified one, but the un-certified one.(lol)

Anyway, he did his gem examination as usual with a "hmm" here and a "hmm" there. Finally he says he does not think it is turquoise. He says 'maybe' Malachite.

Well folks, in my book, 'maybe' means I need a second opinion. Cause maybe at age 78 his eyesite is a little foggy.

Here's another pic. What do you think?

Get a close up, Malachite has a deep green dull color most of the time.

If you try to scratch a UN-glazed piece of porcelain it should give a light green colour.
Some fuses (electricity related fuses) are sometimes unglazed porcelain.

You should be able to scratch it with a knife should it be Malachite to.

This is fresh memory; heh studiying Gemmologist this time.

Eu
