I am a very new artifact hunter. I live in Austin which makes it so much easier kind of like a blind squirrel finding a nut. What I have tried to do is memorize limestone since it makes up as much as 90% of all rocks in Central Texas I am told.

I found this rock in an area we have called the Green Belt which becomes flooded with heavy rains but dissipates quickly leaving fresh new creek beds to hunt. I have found one piece of flint almost this color although I hear it is quite common. These locals are all experts!! ;D

The porousness of this did not mimic any other piece of flint I had found. It is unlike any others that I have found. Any help would be most appreciated and I apologize if this is something from Geology 101 that I simply missed. Thank you in advance and have a great week.

The guitar pick is 1" exactly.
