I'm debating whether or not I want to crack the thing open.

Re: Here's one I find interesting

its probably a type of coral, heres some pics of a couple of different types of coral I have that is found up around those big lakes y`all have up there, some form of a petosky stone, all these are soft around a 4 on the hardness scale. These other pics are of our coral down here in Fl. they are a 7 on the hardness scale. We have 2 types of coral down here, and they are pinhead coral, ( the pretty red/yellow( its got the swirls in it and little tiny polyps and the polyped coral has the "honeycombs" polyps. I cut a shape while I was out there and want to see how it polishes up. I`ll post that in a few when I`m done with it

Very nice.....great cab shots.....all the old corals I find are way too porous to do that with.....great craftsmanship...

Wow cent! those are beautiful!! I love the druzy. Vibes, you should find someone to slice & polish that for you. leave 1/2 raw so you can see the difference. I have 2 pieces of coral I picked up at second hand stores for a song & a dance, & love the difference in polished/ unpolished.
