    petrified wood hopefuls

Hoping some of you folks can help me assess what my finds may be in terms of quality and rarity...here are a couple samples.
Any help would be helpful and appreciated!

Sorry, still learning the add a pic feature...these are all how i found them minus a water cleaning except the last, I cut it with a tile saw and havent polished it yet, just water on it in the pic, that is the "half round" shape I found it in though.

    Pro,

That looks to me like pretty high quality material. I am no help in determining value though

value is in the eyes of the beholder.......nice old wooden rocks.....I am sure they are worth a pretty penny to the right person....good luck finding them.....set the items on an auction.....with a high reserve.....see where the bids stop at....that might give you a clue as to their approximate street value at that time and place.....

    good luck

    Re: petrified wood hopefuls

Again I appreciate the feedback, though i'm not interested in selling yet, more curious as to what people think quality is and overall value, not $ necessarily, I ask because there is high potential for an abundant supply and i am in the works of buying the property this is found on, bonus is it has a nice view, if petrified wood does not end up being abundant there it wouldnt be a waste. I love collecting this stuff and each piece is so different I cant help catching the fever in wondering what else i may find...
goin up again tommorow in hopes of finding something cool!

Well the first photo is of good size and the bark is still there, and most of all there is a big tree knot .
People pay big money for big or one of a kind finds. Also the more agate inside the wood the better you will do on selling it.
The best petrified wood is from OR , UT , ID , AZ , WY , But sadly the truth be told , there is not much you can make on sell petrified wood . It's has to be a super find with lots of color in it , to be a good sell Petrified wood sell better as bookends or hot pads , or in earring's . do your research and you will have better luck finding out what to do with your great looking petrified wood .
THIS HOBBY ROCKS , LETS GO ....

    Re: petrified wood hopefuls

Well, I do know that 1 other person in the same vicinity who actually owns land there sold some to the local museum for $150k, im still researching the property for sale, trying to see if the standing trees run through to where im hoping they are... Problem is the 20- 30 ft of basalt it is probably incased in, but regardless theres lots on top of the ground, kind of wierd more people haven't honed in on the remote area, seeing how this guy had stories in several newspapers down the west coast about his find.

And nearly every piece Ive found is agatized and some have quartz and different colored globular quartz too
