    U.V. rocks

Anybody mess with uv rocks ? I was at a flea market today and ran accross a friend who had a few .bought them for $2 [4 or 5 of them] .brought them home and checked them out . they were pretty cool .Then I got to wondering ?? I have quite a few different rocks and minerals laying around the house .Myself and my sons are always bringing home specimens ,samples and oddities from all over .So I checked quite a few found out I had more than I thought . Some had trace amounts but some really lit up .Some were florescent green, some were yellow some were orange .Now I am going to have to make a u.v. display . That's all I need -----l.o.l. one more thing to collect. But did think it was cool. Wouldn't mind getting some more.

Hay Strickman , I've played a bit with U.V. minerals. As a boy [near 40 yrs ago !!] in Australia we floresced for zircon's a few times ,..but with minimal results .
That was then this is now , I have a U.V. light that has both long and short U.V. , runs on 4 AA batt's . Picked it up from a gold equipment supplier for 20 buck's ?? Anyway we play with it from time to time out in the desert,.. always a bit of fun show'n my girls all the scorpion's about ,..just before bed-time .. ,...and we do find a few rocks that floresce .
Bet you could have some fun with one of these back there in Georgia or North Carolina in some of those creeks , interesting to see whats on some of those gravel bar's . May even work on some of the trace minerals on lode/vain material ?

Some glow one color in shortwave, another color in longwave.

I like Tiffany stone from Utah. A really nice piece will glow a bright green, with orange, purples, blues, reds. Best viewed under shortwave.
Don't hate me because I am beautiful, there are so many better reasons.
