    Fantastic Gold Geology INFO!

This video gave me some great insight into what I'm looking for when prospecting for gold.

Now all I need is to identify these described zones using the geo data in google earth.

    Re: Fantastic Gold Geology INFO!

If you want to find gold, look where it has been found before.

Find someone in your local area that teaches gold panning. Start reading books on mineralogy and prospecting. Find someone in your local area that knows what they are doing, learn from them. Most states have a natural resources or mines/mineralogy division, they can help you find where other gold mines and locations are. Most are searchable over the net. The USGS has a searchable database of all past and current mining claims in the U.S. and other area. Whether you want gold, gemstones or other natural commodity, they have the info on it, with gps coordinates as well.

Most of the old miners left more in the tailings piles than they took out of the mine.

Once you learn the basics and what to look for, it is real easy. Been doing it for thirty yrs as a hobby.

It is a fun hobby, sometimes it can be hard work, but my kids love it.

    Good luck on your prospecting.
Don't hate me because I am beautiful, there are so many better reasons.
