MICA and CRYSTALS DUG in EASTON PA.
while digging for bottles I came across a pocket of Mica, this piece measures 5" across and 3 1/4" high and about 1/4" thick. The crystals were dug about a week before this find.

Re: MICA and CRYSTALS DUG in EASTON PA.
I'm not from your neck of the woods, (I did work for Lancaster Regional, and Carlisle Reg. through their parent comp HMA outta Naples) So my ears kinda "perk" up when I hear Penn, Amish, etc......
I saw a show, a few years back, spoke of a recent major mica discovery in Penn., I want to say. Some brothers had owned many many acres of land, but, also owned the mineral rights, and low and behold, someone located, like a 20million dollar deposit, on these boys land. Talk about pay dirt! They were very happy. You may want to go on-line, see if there is more info on it. I didn't follow up, well, I live in S. Fl. but I found it very interesting. Maybe you will too. Good luck and keep us posted.
Oh yeah, dig that crystal too! Beauty you got there!

Yesterday is history, tomorow a mystery. All we have is the here and now, it's a special gift. That's why we call it "The Present"

Keep digging, if they where not put there by some person or geologic event a pegmatite pocket might be close. Good potential for nice finds.
Geologists are gneiss, tuff, and a little wacke.

NICE! Not sure what the first is. I live in Allentown and have been doing some collecting for about 2 years. Some effigy stones and other crystal and nice looking rock specimens. Any good spots you know??

The first one is a variant of mica called Muscovite.
