    Green gem ID help needed.

    Just wondered what the green gem was in the piece. Thanks for any help.

    Take it to a gemmologist if you really want to know. Its impossible to tell from a picture if the stone is cut.

    I would second having a gemologist look at it. Looks like poor quality emerald to me. Possibly in a hand-made setting. Silver? Platinum?

    I can't even guess what it is from, or the size. Could you post a photo with a dime or other coin for comparison?

    Poor quality emerald? If that were emerald they'd be of a great clarity!
    Colour leaves a bit to wish for though.

    But due to emerald being sensitive I don't think one would cut it into a hear like shape.

    North Carolina has emeralds. The setting looks hand-made to me.

    I can see facets on the stones. Why facet peridot? I mean, sure you can facet it. But why?

    Faceted peridots actually make very nice stones.
