What mineral is this inside of this geode?
I'm intersted in the black material. Is it possible to tell with these photos?

I wouldn't call this a geode. I see no central hollow area, only a mass of crystals.
There do appear to be tiny thin crystals, possibly rutile? They don't look black to me, more dark red.

It was a semi-round stone, this is what the center revealed when broken open. Is that not a geode?
They are definitely coal black, prob. the lighting on my camera.

Amphibole (Aktinolite, tremolite), Pyroxene and tourmaline come to mind.
Geologists are gneiss, tuff, and a little wacke.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go with black tourmaline.
