Green rocks now turning yellow

Sulfur rock- I think this stuff is coming from a salt dome....Had no idea 1 could be right under the surface...

Yellow serpentine is my guess.. Here's a cut one with hematite (iron ore, black)

This stuff is very soft & it stinks !Lol-i really have been looking at the salt dome info on the gulf of mexico -it sounds about right-and the rocks match up....Now i have to find some chambersite purple rock crystal! Yes & cut it with a steak knife.

Sulphur does have a low melting point and burns readily in air - maybe your ID wasn't to far off.
Chip off a piece and try to ignite it, the smell of it burning is also quite special.
