    Emeralds

I'd like to correspond with anyone who has done emerald prospecting/mining, especially in Latin America. Thanks.

    Re: Emeralds

I haven't personally prospected for Emeralds, a little so so familiar with their geology, but post your questions here and someone can hopefully answer.
Geologists are gneiss, tuff, and a little wacke.

Perhaps to begin, I'd like to find a recommended book on the subject.

    Re: Emeralds

There are not to many books on gem prospecting. The only one I know of that is dedicated to gem prospecting is:
"Prospecting for gemstones and minerals" By John Sinkakas I believe.

I'll have to check how well emeralds are covered there.
