    What is this? Not magnetic(doesnt stick 2 magnet) HelpID

    This is very hard. Doesn't stick to magnet. Found in Allentown Pa. Any help identifying would be appreciated. Thanks

    Do a streak test - rub it against a unglazed piece of porcelain. What colour do you get?

    Could be hematite - you'd get a reddish streak.
    Geologists are gneiss, tuff, and a little wacke.

    Probably Ironstone. A sedimentary rock. Hard to say from photos, but look with a 10X loupe and see if you can see indiviual grains. Common in PA. It woul not likely be magnetic.

    Doesn't looks like any iron stone I've ever seen. You have that kind of massive iron stones out in the US? Pics?
    Geologists are gneiss, tuff, and a little wacke.
