Nice crystal with a cluster of tiney quartz covering top!!

I found this one last summer right outside my house(digging). I a not sure what the base crystal is? The tiny ones on top are quartz,i assume, I am not sure what the White SUPER Hard material is on the top either. Any help Identifying is appreciated. Thanks!

It looks like a piece of a geode.
Hard to identify 100% just by pictures.
The hard white material is most likely chalcedony. Same chemical composition (SIO2) as quartz, just cooled of too fast to form crystals. It should have the same hardness as the quartz.

Or it could just be quartz that didn't have enough space to form crystals.
Geologists are gneiss, tuff, and a little wacke.
